Many people are familiar with mediumship, however, the term evidential mediumship may be less well known. As the description suggests, providing clear evidence about the loved one in spirit is the cornerstone of evidential mediumship. Every connection with a soul during an evidential mediumship session starts with the medium describing the loved one and evidence about them and their lives. This evidence can include details about their physical description, personality, relationship, how they passed, occupation, hobbies and so on. Evidence is key for many reasons.  An evidential medium works to build trust, through the evidence, that they are truly connected to the loved one in spirit. Communicating these details builds trust both in the connection to spirit and in the fact that our loved one’s soul carries on after they have left their physical body.  Our loved ones always have a reason for coming through during a reading. These messages from spirit are often deeply profound and healing. Nature has always been an important part of my spiritual journey. My first true awareness that there may be more to the world than I realized came in the form of repeated crow sightings. Ever since that first “aha” moment, I have continued to find inspiration and teachings in nature. Recently, I have revisited one of the lessons I have learned from the trees. Specifically, the importance of strong, deep roots.    Trees teach us that to grow tall and strong, we need to have deep roots. Having deep roots provides strong anchors for the trees, keeping them secure and safe in storms. In addition, deep roots allow trees to access water and nutrients that are buried deeper in the earth. The deeper the roots are, the stronger, taller and more bountiful the tree will be above the surface. The same lesson is true for us.    As we embark on this spiritual journey, tending to our roots can look different for everyone. For me, it looks like regularly grounding myself, often in nature. It means making sure that I am nourishing my body, soul and spirit through healthy food, drinking enough water, resting, doing things that bring me joy and keeping my physical body strong. I can often tell when I am not taking care of myself in these ways because I am far more likely to be thrown off by the storms of life and I am not as bountiful in my work and creative endeavors.    What are your experiences with nature as inspiration? Whether it is your first time having a mediumship reading or your tenth, we wanted to provide some insight into what to expect during a Reading.    First, a few logistics. All of our readings are conducted virtually over Zoom. When you book a Reading, you will receive an email with a zoom link. When it is time for your session, you can just click the zoom link and join the session.    Once you are in the session, we will introduce ourselves and give you a chance to ask any questions or share any intentions you have for the session. We will then transition to see who is present for you in spirit, this may include a short opening statement which is an indicator to Spirit that we are ready to connect.     As we begin to connect with your loved one, the first pieces of information that we will pick up on may include information about their gender, physical appearance, relationship to you and personality.  As we connect more deeply with them, the information will expand and may include details about how they passed, details about their life including their occupation, hobbies and family. As we communicate these details we will be checking in with you as we go to make sure that they make sense and see if we need to clarify anything. Spirit may also bring through information about your current life as a way to provide evidence that they are still around you in spirit.    Once we are confident that we have a clear understanding of which loved one we are connecting with they will often transition to speaking about why they have come through to connect. This may include healing something in the relationship between the two of you or a message about something that is currently happening in your life.    It’s important to know that we can’t control which of your loved ones come through during a reading. A mediumship reading is an opportunity to trust that the right energy and messages will come through for where you are in your life.    The beauty of a mediumship reading is twofold, First, it can provide profound healing in our direct relationships with our loved ones. Second, it provides deep healing and reassurance that our souls continue on after death. I believe the real reason I have spent my entire life searching for evidence of life after death is that I could never accept the idea that everything is simply over when a person or an animal dies. That from one moment to the next, nothing remains, that all that is left is just a memory. ​ The theme of farewell has shaped my life. As a tiny baby, only three months old, I lost my mother—not through death, but because she gave me up for adoption. This experience influenced me more than anything else, and as a result, I struggled with goodbyes all my life. I always lived in fear of losing the people who meant something to me, and this fear held me back. More instinctively than consciously, I began researching life after death at an early age. I was always different from the people around me. I could sense so much more, and I knew things that one simply shouldn't be able to know. People said I had an overactive imagination, that I was just making things up. Of course, I considered that possibility myself at first, but everything I perceived was so real that I could clearly distinguish between fantasy and reality. ​ Deceased individuals, spirit guides, and angels have accompanied me throughout my life. I could talk to them and, occasionally, even see them. I received so many signs—signs that always turned out to be true—that I could not doubt their reality. Later in life, I actively explored my relationship with the spirit world, always making sure that what I perceived could be validated. My connection with the deceased became just as real as my relationships with living people, which helped me cope better with the theme of "farewell." Of course, I still miss a person or an animal when they leave their physical form; the grieving process remains the same. But it helps me to know that I do not have to despair over a goodbye—because all my loved ones are always with me, in every moment. ​ In my work as an evidential medium, it is therefore extremely important to me that contact with the deceased is always clearly proven. The information I receive from them must be specific, offering undeniable evidence of their life. Equally important is that the contact feels alive—that I engage in a real relationship with the deceased and communicate with them as if they were still here. That is why, in a session, the spirit will always present themselves in a way that their loved ones would recognize—their distinct personality, their unique traits, and their way of describing things and situations. If they were a shy person in life, they will appear to me in that way. If they were full of energy, that energy will be transmitted as well. Deceased individuals always strive to ensure that their loved ones truly recognize them. In my experience, every spirit who comes forward is grateful for the opportunity to connect with their loved ones again and will do their best to communicate as clearly as possible. ​ For me, these moments remain sacred. A space is created where the deceased, their loved ones, and I—as the medium between the worlds—come together, even if just for a moment. And this moment is deeply moving and healing. Even though I have facilitated countless such connections in my life, each one is unique, and I feel honored when a spirit chooses me as their medium to reach their loved one once more. ​ In this way, I hope I can contribute, even just a little, to making a "grand goodbye" feel not just like a loss, but also something comforting. To offer the certainty that there is no such thing as a final farewell—that we are all eternally connected and can always sense and communicate with one another.
